Toledo is a glorious getaway just a train from the city of Madrid. First stop on the route of Don Quixote as it is marked by a plaque, and capital of the damascene artwork which has become an identity of the city itself.
Its Moorish heritage presents itself in the shape of the Mudéjar architecture and the mosques, while synagogues and churches don't fall behind in making their statement. The Catedral Primada for example, is an excellent sample of High Gothic style within Spain and the Monastery of San Juan de los Reyes is a must-see attraction in the city.
Visit the Alcázar of Toledo, once meant as a royal residence for Charles V and the highest point in the city, now providing an Army Museum. Do not miss getting an unforgettable sight from the Mirador del Valle where you can admire the view.
If you are interested in deepening your knowledge, tour the El Greco Museum, named after the artist who depicted Toledo in one of his most famous paintings: “Vista de Toledo”.
Before leaving, enjoy the cafés and bustle of Plaza de Zocodover and the gates and bridges that connect Toledo with the rest of the world: Puente de Alcántara, Puente de San Martín, Puerta de Bisagra and Puerta del Sol.
Toledo is a city that renders a magical timeless charm so make sure to be able to capture it forever!
